Meta Learn is a mental health app, that offers self help at a fraction of the price of a therapy session

Meta Learn is a self-help app developed by a Danish family-driven startup founded by DTU student Magnus Fredslund, his brother Asbjørn Fredslund, and their mother Jette Fredslund, a certified psychotherapist. Inspired by the worsening mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, the team created the app based on metacognitive therapy principles. Meta Learn offers affordable and accessible exercises and tools targeting issues like stress and anxiety, addressing the gaps in mental health service coverage. Priced at 99 DKK per month, the app aims to provide anonymous self-help as an alternative to costly therapy sessions. The startup, supported by the Skylab Incubator, aspires to have a global presence within five years.

Meta Learn were the winners of the Inclusion Award at DTU startup day 2023. The team has been an active member of the Skylab Incubator, where they have been supported with business coaching from the staff at DTU Skylab, but also received soft funding for developing a physical card set based on the meta-cognitive exercises from their app.

By providing a low price and more accessible alternative to psychiatric help, MetaLearn has the opportunity to make a big impact on the mental health of many.
